Melissa Sanchez, Reporter, Chicago Reporter
Sanchez writes about children, youth and families for The Chicago Reporter. She previously covered education for Catalyst Chicago until the two publications merged last year. Before coming to Chicago, she covered city government at el Nuevo Herald, the Spanish-language sister newspaper of the Miami Herald, and wrote about immigration and crime for the Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic. She also reported from Nicaragua for a year through a fellowship from the Inter American Press Association after graduating from Michigan State University with a journalism degree in 2007.
